Laying the Foundation to Wellness and Good Health
To many people, chiropractic care is a newer phenomenon, one that has been downplayed by Big Pharmaceutical’s alternative version of healthcare. And many who do know about chiropractic care's benefit usually jump to the same conclusion: they hear the cracking and the snapping, and have been trained by conventional medicine to look for the quick fix, i.e. a pain pill or some variation thereof.
But the truth of the matter is chiropractic care has been practiced since all the way back in 1895, when Daniel David Palmer, the godfather of chiropractic medicine, performed the first adjustment on a member of his clinic's custodial staff. Further, while manual manipulation (the cracking kind) was the beginnings, today top chiropractors like Dr. Molly use the Activator – no more scary pops!
So what should you expect from Back to Health's clinic? To put it simply, chiropractic care is like building a house; certain things have to happen in a particular order in order for everything to stand strong and work correctly. When building a house, if you tried to put up your walls before you had a solid foundation, your walls would be weak and eventually collapse. If you tried to put on your roof before the walls were ready, you would run into the same problem.
The same is true for your body! Your body has to go through a particular plan of care in order to repair itself correctly and fully in order to be in optimal health! At Back to Health we care about our patients' entire wellness, not just chiropractic care; we also offer a full gym, aquatic therapy, hydrotherapy massage, a reiki practitioner, Nutrition Response testing... the list goes on!
But let's start with chiropractic care. Below, here are the three general phases of chiropractic care, to give you an idea of what to expect.
Phase 1
Relief Care
Assuming you are in pain (as many of our patients are initially), when you come into Back to Health's wellness clinic, the first objective is to help you feel better. Depending on the severity of your problem, initial frequency can vary, but many of our chiropractic patients come to see us 2-3 times per week for 4-12 weeks.
Phase 2
Corrective/Restorative Care
During the corrective care phase of your chiropractic treatment, Dr. Molly will turn her attention to your muscles and other tissues, allowing them to heal more completely and allowing your body to better prevent further or future injury. In phase 2, our patient's typically see us between 4-8 times per month for 6-24 months depending on where a patient's at in their care, how well they've followed their personalized treatment plan, and other factors.
Phase 3
Wellness Care
Patients who stick with the Dr. Molly's medical suggestions and treatment plan and find their way to phase 3, it's still important to come in for periodic adjustments. Once your body has fully healed, to avoid problems in the future we sometimes have patients come in between 1-4 times per 1-2 months.
